DRACULA, A COMEDY OF TERRORS!

5 Actors (15 Characters)
Minimal Set
90 Minutes

Ever wondered what would happen if you took Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire tale and put it in a blender with the comedic influences of Mel Brooks, Monty Python and the 39 Steps? Well we did it. And now our kitchen is a mess, but the results are scarily funny.

Dracula A Comedy of Terrors is a lightning fast, laugh out loud  90-minute comedy that can be performed with as few as 5 performers, but with 15 speaking parts there’s always room for more!

As famed female vampire hunter Jean Van Helsing and company chase Count Dracula from Transylvania to the British countryside to London and back, their antics are guaranteed to increase your pulses and cause blood curdling screams... of laughter.

REVIEWS:

“IF YOU'VE BEEN CRAVING A BREAK FROM THE FRIGHTS OF REAL LIFE, THIS CAMPY, VAMPY ROMP IS A SCREAM.

DRACULA, A COMEDY OF TERRORS GOES FOR THE JOCULAR. GORDON GREENBERG AND STEVE ROSEN'S SILLY, SEXY SPOOF OF BRAM STOKER'S BLOODCURDLING NOVEL REPLACES HORROR WITH HUMOR UNDER GREENBERG'S SPIRITED DIRECTION”

- Time Out New York

‘DRACULA: A COMEDY OF TERRORS’: NON-STOP HILARITY IN THIS MUST SEE OFF-BROADWAY FARCE. I DIDN’T STOP LAUGHING FOR 90-STRAIGHT MINUTES.

- Forbes

“DRACULA’ AS COMEDY, ACHIEVED WITH AN EFFORTLESSNESS THAT BELIES ITS SOPHISTICATION.

THIS ‘COMEDY OF TERRORS’ IS A SCREAM. ..GET SET FOR A 90-MINUTE ROMP ... HALLOWEEN IS MORE THAN A MONTH AWAY, BUT A RAUCOUS OFF-BROADWAY COSTUME PARTY IS ALREADY IN FULL SWING. …A COMPANY OF RISING ACTORS AND THEATER STALWARTS, ALL OF WHOM PROVE MARVELOUSLY ADEPT AT FRISKY, NO-HOLDS-BARRED HUMOR, TAKE ON BRAM STOKER’S CREEPY CLASSIC.”

- The New York Sun

“WANT A LAUGH? GORDON GREENBERG AND STEVE ROSEN’S PROUDLY SILLY TAKE ON DRACULA HAS JOKES BY THE TRUCKLOAD.”

- The Daily Beast

“IT’S ALWAYS REFRESHING WHEN A SHOW KNOWS BOTH ITS AUDIENCE AND EXACTLY HOW TO PLAY TO THEM. GORDON GREENBERG AND STEVE ROSEN’S DRACULA: A COMEDY OF TERRORS IS CALIBRATED PRECISELY.”

- Theatremania

“UNDER GREENBERG’S RAPID-FIRE NO-HOLDS-BARRED DIRECTION, THE 90-MINUTE FARCE OF A FRIGHT FEST IS FRAMED IN THE META-THEATRICAL DEVICE OF FIVE ACTORS PRESENTING A PLAY, WITH FOUR OF THEM PERFORMING MULTIPLE QUICK-CHANGE ROLES (SOMETIMES OPPOSITE THEMSELVES AT A DIZZYING PACE), IN A LAUGH-OUT-LOUD MASH-UP OF THE VICTORIAN ERA AND NOW. “

- Theatre Scene

“GORDON GREENBERG AND STEVE ROSEN’S DIVERTING NEW DRACULA, WHICH JUST OPENED AT NEW WORLD STAGES, IS SUBTITLED A COMEDY OF TERRORS, WHICH GIVES YOU A HINT OF THE ZANINESS THAT’S IN STORE. THINK MONTY PYTHON, WITH FEWER SILLY WALKS. THE MADCAP, MANIC TRICYCLE THEATRE PRODUCTION OF THE 39 STEPS. PERHAPS A DASH OF THE RIDICULOUS THEATRICAL COMPANY.”

- New York Stage Review

“SAVOR EVERY MOMENT OF THE DELICIOUSLY IRREVERENT SCRIPT BY STEVE ROSEN AND GORDON GREENBERG (WHO ALSO DIRECTED THE PRODUCTION). IT OH-SO-CLEVERLY MIXES ELEMENTS OF BRAM STOKER’S CLASSIC VAMPIRE NOVEL WITH ANACHRONISTIC, UP-TO-THE-MINUTE UPDATES FOR MAXIMUM HILARITY.”

- Theatre Pizzazz

“A RIP SNORT GOOD TIME FOR 90 MINUTES THAT LEAVES YOU WITH A LITTLE HOPE IN ALL THIS DARKNESS. GREENBERG TIGHTLY DIRECTS A GENIUS CAST OF ACTORS WHO ARE MASTERS AT VISUAL GAGS, LINE PLACEMENTS, AND RISK TAKING WITH PROPS, SUCH AS SPRAY CANS OF FOG AND A BAT ON A CATFISHING STICK THAT MAKE FOR MEASURED AND REFRESHING COMEDIC FIRE.  THIS IS HOW COMEDY IS DONE!  NO TRIPPING INTO TRAPS HERE.  RUN TO SEE THIS SHOW.”

- Front Row Center

“THE SCRIPT BY GORDON GREENBERG (ALSO THE DIRECTOR) AND STEVEN ROSEN, TAKES ON BRAM STOKER’S 1897 HORROR CLASSIC AND SPINS IT INTO A DELIGHTFUL, INTELLIGENT, 90 MINUTES OF SHEER DELIGHT.”

- Times Square Chronicles

“DIRECTOR GORDON GREENBERG IS A LAUGH MAKER WHO KNOWS HOW TO BUILD A JOKE THAT PUTS HIM IN A CLASS WITH NOTED COMIC DIRECTORS CASEY NICHOLAW AND JERRY ZAKS."
